My three women. My three dear friends. We spent a few summers together sharing each other’s energy. Savoring life as it was at that moment. We talked and sang, drank and swam, laughed and cried together. It was a vital time for all of us. They inspired my female artist’s soul in the beginning of my photography journey. I imagined them as queens and goddesses ruling their world with strength and gentleness, passion and wisdom. On one hot summer day when I was applying dark shadows around their eyes, I picked up my camera and said “give me one honest look." In the end of one of those summers, I closed my darkroom door and the the series Mes Trois Femmes came into life. The images are gelatin silver prints in combination with solarizing techniques, acrylic paint and collage.

Heavy shadows they wear
and paint on their cheeks that changes
radiant, strange
stones of value decorate their look
tempting your tired mind
with no mercy
their vague smile burns your vision
carefully
with skill and pleasure
You fought so hard and became weak
fell on the ground like the air
cold and invisible
while they were watching you
from their tall golden chairs
You hear them sing at dawn
the song of melancholy:
“If you would really know me
you could see
that I have one face only”
How many looks they possess in your dusty books
How many names, lives
How many allegories, poems, stories
And here they sing:
“If you would really know me
you could see
that I have one face only”
